Fuel prices in the state were down modestly over the past week, according to the latest reports from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, July 5, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline dropped six cents to $3.32. That price is $1.26 lower than a year ago and 20 cents below the national average, which was down three cents on the week. Retail diesel prices in Iowa dipped four cents on the week to $3.58 per gallon. Current prices are $1.79 lower than a year ago and 27 cents below the national average of $3.85 per gallon. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged from $2.16. Natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site slipped one cent higher to $2.66 per MMBtu.
