The Carroll Police Department reports a teenager was taken into custody on Monday evening after allegedly discharging a firearm into the ground during an outburst. Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Washington Street at approximately 8:49 p.m. in response to a reported disturbance at a residence. Authorities say a 17-year-old male juvenile had taken a shotgun and loaded it before leaving the home. Officials report the teen had also fired rounds into the ground outside the residence before fleeing the scene. Officers located the teen without the firearm about 90 minutes later near the intersection of U.S. Highway 71 and 3rd Street. The young suspect was taken into custody without incident, and a charge of minor armed with a dangerous weapon, a serious misdemeanor, has been forwarded to the juvenile courts. Authorities say the shotgun fired during the incident was later recovered.
