Carroll city officials have announced the season’s next city-wide mosquito spraying is scheduled for this weekend. On Sunday, July 23, weather permitting, the city will be conducting mosquito spraying in the evening. The spraying will cover the entire city, starting from a location determined by the wind direction on that day. The chemicals used during this process are generally considered safe for human exposure in moderate amounts, but at-risk populations, such as the very young or elderly, may notice difficulties breathing when the truck is in their neighborhood. Please take necessary precautions, such as staying indoors or covering up if you have sensitivities to spray. The scheduled treatment comes a day before tens of thousands of visitors are expected to arrive in Carroll for the community’s overnight stop on RAGBRAI’s 50th-anniversary ride on Monday.
