Regional Unemployment Spikes In June IWD Report

Unemployment rates increased by nearly a half-point on average across the seven-county region from May to June, according to a report released yesterday (Tuesday) by Iowa Workforce Development (IWD). Audubon County recorded the lowest rate for the region at 2.2 percent, 0.1 points higher than last month but 0.4 points improved from June 2022. Sac and Carroll Counties saw a 0.3-point increase to 2.3 and 2.5 percent, respectively. Calhoun County jumped 0.5 points to 2.9 percent, and Greene County spiked to 3.0 percent unemployment from 1.8 percent in May. Guthrie County also tracked unemployment at 3.0 percent, while Crawford County recorded the highest rate in the region at 4.5 percent, slightly higher than the prior month. Iowa’s unemployment rate was unchanged in June at 2.7 percent. National rates dipped to 3.6 percent from 3.7 percent in May. A link to the full data set from IWD can be found included below.
