A Carroll woman accused of intentionally striking a man with her car is scheduled for trial near the beginning of fall. According to Carroll County District Court records, 33-year-old Stephanie Jean Winter is charged with assault using a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor, for the June 18 incident that left the male victim with injuries to his legs and torso. Authorities say Winter was driving a 2013 Ford Focus in the 700 block of Granada Road and purposely drove the sedan into him. Winter pled not guilty last week to the charge levied against her and waived her right to a speedy trial. A judge signed an order Thursday scheduling her jury trial to begin on Tuesday, Sept. 26, with a pretrial conference slated for Sept. 14. An aggravated misdemeanor in Iowa carries a maximum penalty of up to two years in prison and $6,250 in fines.
