A Carroll woman was arrested over the weekend after allegedly biting an officer in the face. According to Carroll County District Court records, 34-year-old Courtney Lynne Loew is charged with one count of assault on a person in certain occupations causing bodily injury, an aggravated misdemeanor, and assault on a person in certain occupations, a serious misdemeanor, for the July 29 incident in the 400 block of S. Walnut Street. A Carroll Police Department affidavit says officers were conducting a security check at a residential property around 12:35 a.m. Authorities say Loew bit one of the officers in the face, spit on them, and also kicked them in the head. She was booked into the Carroll County jail and released after appearing before a magistrate. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 17 at the Carroll County Courthouse. She faces a maximum penalty of up to two years in prison and over $8,000 in fines if convicted.
