Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) President, Rob Denson, joined the Carroll County Board of Supervisors this (Monday) morning to highlight the institution’s positive influence and expansion in Iowa and the Carroll area in recent years. According to Denson, DMACC has served students in central Iowa since 1966. Over the last six decades, their programs have shifted and changed to match students’ educational needs, but one thing has always stayed the same.

DMACC is Iowa’s largest community college by a significant margin, but Denson says they are always looking for new and innovative ways to service Iowans in a cost-effective manner.

DMACC’s innovations have not gone unnoticed by high-ranking officials in the federal government. Initially, they tapped DMACC staff to train TSA associates in airport security in the Midwest. Their efforts were so successful compared to other contracted institutions that DMACC now teaches TSA staff in all 50 states. According to Denson, one of the most impressive things about DMACC is the statistics on DMACC students who transfer to a four-year university after earning their associate’s degree.

Not only do DMACC students tend to do well following their education, they also tend to remain in Iowa afterward.

Denson says DMACC’s Carroll Campus is one of the institution’s crown jewels. He and Campus Provost, Joel Lundstrom, look forward to making a difference for students and communities throughout the Carroll area for years to come. Learn more about DMACC at www.dmacc.edu.
