Marge, as she was known to most, was born on August 26, 1929 on her family’s farm in rural Brayton, IA. She was the daughter of Peter and Marie (Rasmussen) Brown. She grew up on the farm and attended Oakfield #6 country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Exira High School in 1948. She worked at the Audubon County Courthouse and a local restaurant in Brayton. Marge was married to Roy Middaugh on October 28, 1950 at Oak Hill Lutheran Church in Brayton. The couple made their home in Audubon until moving to California while Roy served in the US Marine Corps. They moved back to Audubon and Cass County following Roy’s military service. They moved to Glidden in 1962 and Marge worked at AMF in Jefferson for 22 years. She was member of the First Presbyterian Church in Glidden and the Merle Hay American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed golf, water aerobics at the Rec Center, going for walks, and socializing with her many friends and coffee groups. Marge had a special love of flower gardening.
