A Lytton man arrested for leading local law enforcement on a high-speed chase through Carroll last November, which led to an hours-long manhunt, has been sentenced to up to 12 years in prison. On Nov. 4, 2022, 47-year-old Victor Henry Scalco Jr. stole a pickup truck and gun after allegedly assaulting a victim. Law enforcement attempted to stop Scalco after spotting the truck, but he fled at a high rate of speed. The pursuit ended in a field northeast of Carroll, but Scalco was able to elude police for several hours by fleeing on foot and hiding in a nearby creek. Scalco was initially charged with four felony counts and an aggravated misdemeanor charge. As part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, he pled guilty to unlawful firearm possession by a prohibited person and eluding, class D felonies, and operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent. He was sentenced to up to five years in prison on each felony count and up to two years for the misdemeanor charge. The terms will be served consecutively, bringing the total sentence to 12 years in prison. Associated fines and criminal service surcharges were suspended. The remaining charges were dismissed after sentencing.
