Stewart Memorial Community Hospital (SMCH) is partnering with Calhoun County Public Health to introduce the 2023 Calhoun County Community Health Needs Assessment. This assessment serves as a platform for Calhoun County residents to help identify local medical challenges and offer insights for addressing them. SMCH Chief Nursing Officer, Ann Lengeling, says, “By conducting a thorough assessment of the health needs of our communities, we can gain a better understanding of the health concerns that exist as well as develop target strategies to alleviate those concerns.” The outcomes of this assessment will influence updates to the community health improvement plan and its execution strategies spanning 2024 to 2026. These plans will be incorporated by the hospital, the public health department, and other community collaborators to prioritize and allocate resources for enhancing health outcomes throughout Calhoun County. Residents are strongly encouraged to participate in the approximately six-minute assessment. The questionnaire can be accessed via a QR code or by following the link included with this story on our website. This online assessment will be available from Aug. 15 through Oct. 31. Paper copies are available at the Calhoun County Courthouse, Calhoun County Public Health office in Rockwell City, Stewart Memorial Community Hospital, and McCrary-Rost Clinic locations.
