Officials at the East Sac County (ESC) Community School District have reversed their position on allowing elementary students to have water bottles in classrooms after pushback from the community. At the ESC School Board meeting on Monday, East Sac County Principal Becky Halbur cited concerns over disruptions, spills, and other potential issues from their presence in the classroom as the rationale behind the decision. However, school officials announced on Tuesday they would permit individual water bottles after receiving feedback from stakeholders. In a message to parents, Halbur emphasized the bottles were to be used for water only and must be used responsibly by students.
