Iowa Fuel Report: Aug. 23, 2023

According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa, Iowans saw some relief at the pump over the past week. As of Wednesday, Aug. 23, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $3.64, a 13-cent drop from a week ago and eight cents over 2022’s price. The national average on Wednesday dropped one cent on the week to $3.85 per gallon. Retail diesel prices in Iowa fell two cents to a statewide average of $4.11 per gallon. That is 59 cents lower than the $4.70 per gallon prices recorded last August. The national average for diesel came in at $4.36 per gallon. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged at $2.16. Natural gas prices fell 16 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site to $2.53 per MMBtu. A reminder that retail heating oil and propane price reporting will resume in September.
