One person was killed and two injured, including a Denison man, after a pair of motorcycles drove into a herd of deer in Fremont County in southwest Iowa. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 8:45 p.m. Saturday, about 4.5 miles northwest of Sidney. Authorities say a 2006 Harley-Davidson XTS, operated by 44-year-old Adam Ryan Wiese of Denison, and a 2005 Harley Davidson FLHTI, ridden by 39-year-old Andy Lee Wiese of Silver City, were traveling northbound on Bluff Road when several deer entered the roadway, causing both riders to take evasive action. A sidecar attached to one of the motorcycles malfunctioned and caused both units to crash. Andy Wiese was ejected from his bike and pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 70-year-old Janelle Lois Wiese, and Adam Wiese were both seriously injured and airlifted to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha for treatment. The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office and Fremont County Emergency Medical Services also assisted at the scene.
