John-Michael-Hanson

A Carroll County magistrate has approved a motion from prosecutors to increase the bond to $250,000 for a Carroll man accused of stabbing a bar owner early Sunday morning. The motion from County Attorney John Werden was approved this (Tuesday) morning and includes provisions requiring 41-year-old John Michael Hanson to turn over any weapons in his possession if any form of pretrial release from the Carroll County jail is approved. Hanson was booked early Sunday morning by the Carroll Police Department on a willful injury causing serious injury charge, a class C felony, for allegedly stabbing Kerps Tavern co-owner, Ben Badding, at least four times in the head and neck area after he requested Hanson leave the establishment around 12:50 a.m. Badding was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital and later airlifted to a Des Moines hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Hanson remains in custody, and further charges are pending additional investigation.
