Formal Charges Filed In District Court Against Carroll Stabbing Suspect

John-Michael-Hanson

Formal charges have been filed in Carroll County District Court against a man accused of stabbing a Carroll bar owner in the neck. Court records show 41-year-old John Michael Hanson of Carroll was indicted Friday on one count of willful injury, a class C felony. The charge stems from an early morning incident on Sunday, Aug. 27, at Kerps Tavern in the 200 block of E. 5th Street. Hanson is accused of stabbing Ben Badding at least four times in the head and neck after Badding requested he leave the premises around 12:50 a.m. that morning. Hanson remains in custody at the Carroll County jail on a $250,000 bond and is scheduled to appear for his arraignment hearing on Sept. 18. The class C felony charge carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
