This weekend marks the annual flight breakfast at the Arthur N. Neu Airport near Carroll. The program is hosted by the Signet Masonic Lodge in Carroll and Carroll Aviation. Joe Reed, who has been involved with the flight breakfast and Masons for many years, says more than just pilots look forward to the breakfast every year.
They’ll start serving breakfast at 6:30 a.m. in the airport’s main hangar on Sunday morning, and meals will be available until 1 p.m. The Masons have free barrel rides for kids throughout the program, while Carroll Aviation is offering plane rides from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. for $35 per person. Reed says it is always fun to welcome pilots from miles around to Carroll.
According to Reed, the Masons use the money raised during the flight breakfast to support the local lodge and area non-profits.
The Friends of Army Aviation will also be out at the Carroll Airport on Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., offering rides on a restored Vietnam-era UH-1 “Huey” helicopter for $85 per passenger. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.friendsofarmyaviation.org or the day of at the airport.
