Carol Jean Woods, age 77, of Coon Rapids, IA, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Kennybrook Village in Grimes.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at the Coon Rapids Cemetery in Coon Rapids, IA.

Carol was born on September 18, 1945 in Jefferson, IA, the daughter of Marvin “Bud” George and Ruth Elizabeth (Watkins) Woods. She grew up in Coon Rapids where she graduated from high school in 1963. She attended Cottey College in Nevada, MO and A.I.B. in Des Moines. Carol lived in Des Moines and worked for EMC Insurance (9 years), Des Moines Register and Tribune (3 years), and Des Moines Stamp Manufacturing (25 years) retiring on April 28, 2008. She moved back to Coon Rapids and cared for her mother until her death and did volunteer work at Thomas Rest Haven, Congregate Meals, and the New Hope Village Bargain Shoppe. Carol enjoyed traveling and visited 10 European Countries, 43 of the United States, Canada, and Mexico. She also enjoyed knitting afghans and giving them away, reading, and her cat Kelly T. Cat. (Carol loved cats!) She also loved to go to concerts and felt blessed to see Elvis on his final tour.
Carol is survived by several cousins, their families and lifelong family friends Susan and Charles Carpenter. She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister Jane Ann in infancy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Planned Parenthood of the Heartland in Urbandale, Iowa, New Hope Village in Carroll, Iowa or an animal rescue service of your choosing.
