A Glidden man accused of threatening a construction crew while brandishing a firearm has been scheduled for trial later this fall. According to Carroll County District Court records, 60-year-old Alexander Calderon is charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor, for the July 28 incident in the 100 block of Idaho Street. Authorities allege Calderon approached a group of roofers to complain about construction noise and debris. He is accused of pointing a Harrington & Richarson revolver at the workers and threatening them. Calderon pled not guilty to the charges, and a judge signed an order last week scheduling his trial to begin Nov. 28. A pretrial conference is slated for Nov. 9. An aggravated misdemeanor in Iowa carries a maximum penalty of up to two years in prison and $6,250 in fines.
