harvest

Gov. Kim Reynolds has issued Iowa’s annual harvest season proclamation that impacts the weight limits and transportation of certain agricultural goods. Effective immediately and extending through Oct. 11, this proclamation allows vehicles carrying various agricultural products such as corn, soybeans, hay, straw, silage, stover, fertilizer, and manure to exceed the standard weight limit, not exceeding 90,000 pounds gross weight, without requiring a permit. This relaxation of weight limits applies to all Iowa highways, excluding the interstate system, as long as the vehicles stay within specific parameters. These parameters include not exceeding the maximum axle weight limit specified in Iowa Code by more than 12.5 percent, adhering to the legal maximum axle weight limit of 20,000 pounds, and complying with posted limits on roads and bridges. This move aims to facilitate the transportation of essential agricultural goods during a specified period. A link to the full proclamation is included below.
