Iowa Fuel Report: Sept. 13, 2023

Gasoline prices have dropped slightly from the spike seen prior to last weekend but are still well over the norm for the summer. According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the state as of Wednesday, Sept. 13, was $3.92, 34 cents higher than last week’s average and 51 cents higher than a year ago. The national average on Wednesday was up five cents on the week to $3.85 per gallon. Diesel prices were noticeably less affected by the price jump, rising only one cent to $4.27 per gallon, compared to $4.86 last year and the current $4.51 national average. Wholesale ethanol held steady at $2.16, and natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site were up 23 cents to $2.76 per MMBtu.
