Dylan Shirbroun of Coon Rapids

 Dylan James Shirbroun, son of Josh and Trina Shirbroun, was born on December 18, 1998 in Carroll, Iowa.  He left this world too soon on September 10, 2023, at the age of 24.

      Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids. Lector for the Mass will be Brian McAlister.  Gift bearers will be Dustin, Amanda, Ashlyn Schaefer.  Casket bearers will be Austin Schaefer, Anthony Schaefer, Isaac McAlister, Brandon Evans, Kirby Nieland, and Nick Kasperbauer.  Honorary casket bearers will be siblings: Shayla, Ciara, and Mason Shirbroun; his special friend Lexie Wehde; Ashlyn Schaefer, Aiden Shirbroun, Hunter Shirbroun, Emmett Shirbroun, Ember McClure, Kalie Behle, Stormi Behle, and Bryor Behle, Zach Smith, Brody Schlepp, Cody Bruch, Jeffrey Eagle, Joshua Esdohr, and Nick Sorenson.  Burial will be in Orange Township Cemetery.

     Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids on Wednesday from 5 – 7 P.M.  The casket will be moved to Annunciation Catholic Church on Thursday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the Mass.

     In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Dylan’s name for a later designation and may be left with the funeral home or at the church.

     Dylan grew up in Coon Rapids, Iowa and graduated from Coon Rapids-Bayard in 2017.

Dylan was a diligent and reliable worker, upholding the family tradition of hard work and craftsmanship. Dylan’s career path was marked by dedication and a strong work ethic. From 2018 to 2019, he contributed his skills laying carpet at D3. In the fall of 2019 until present, he joined his father, Josh, at JJ Construction and Concrete. During this time, he also worked alongside his Uncle Jesse at Professional Machinery Assembly and with Kelly Heiderscheit at Hyde Construction.

     Dylan possessed an infectious smile that could brighten up any room. He had a heart of pure gold, overflowing with kindness and compassion, always ready to extend a helping hand to those in need. Dylan was a man of diverse interests and talents. He found joy in the roar of dirt bikes, the art of giving brotherly advice, and the gift of laughter through cracking jokes. Dylan always welcomed friends and family openly and enjoyed cherished moments with loved ones.

He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life – Jeep rides with his father, watching Hawkeye football games, playing baseball, the thrill of figure 8 racing, drawing, and playing video games with his brother. He found comfort in the moments spent fishing, kayaking, tubing, and golfing.

     One of Dylan’s greatest passions was music. He loved singing and playing the guitar, often creating his own music that touched the hearts of those who heard it. Dylan had a love for Colorado, where he found solace and happiness.

     But above all else, Dylan continuously expressed to everyone he met that “everyone deserves happiness.”

     He is survived by his mother, Trina Shirbroun (Rudy Rodriguez) Ankeny, IA and father Josh Shirbroun (Brie Newton) Coon Rapids, IA. Siblings Shayla, Ciara and Mason Shirbroun (Ankeny, IA) and niece Ember McClure (Ankeny, IA). Dylan is also survived by his grandparents, Rick and Kellie Schaefer, (Macon, MO), Kelly and Kimberlee McAlister (Macon, MO), Ann and Mike Vogel (Coon Rapids, IA) Kerry Shirbroun (Candy Holcomb) Coon Rapids, IA, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

     He was preceded in death by Grandma Lori Smith, Great Grandma Rosie McAlister, Delores Simpson, and cousin Roland Behle and Allia Janning

     In the wake of Dylan’s passing, let us remember him for the joy he brought into our lives, the music he shared with our souls, and the love he bestowed upon his family. Dylan’s memory will forever be etched in our hearts, a reminder of the preciousness of life and the importance of cherishing every moment.
