Carroll Man Accused Of Bar Stabbing Pleads Not Guilty

John-Michael-Hanson

A Carroll man accused of stabbing a Carroll bar owner in the neck has been scheduled for trial in November. According to District Court records, a judge signed an order Friday scheduling the jury trial for 41-year-old John Michael Hanson to begin Nov. 28 after Hanson pled not guilty to the charge levied against him. He is charged with willful injury causing serious injury, a class C felony, for the Aug. 27 incident at Kerps Tavern in Carroll. Authorities say Hanson stabbed the victim, Benjamin Badding, in the head and neck multiple times during a dispute, resulting in life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, Badding is recovering from the injuries sustained in that attack. Hanson remains in custody at the Carroll County jail on a $250,000. A pretrial conference is slated for Nov. 9. If convicted, Hanson faces up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
