The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education meets tomorrow (Thursday) evening. Superintendent Dr. Casey Berlau says the September meeting is always interesting, as it is when school officials review certified enrollment, transportation reports, and more from the prior year.

The question of admission fees for students to attend district-hosted extracurricular activities also returns to the board’s agenda. Last month, school officials discussed the feasibility of removing or reducing students’ gate fees after several other Iowa districts did away with them. Several board members questioned the impact of such a move on the Activity Fund. Berlau says that the discussion will continue at Thursday’s meeting.

The board has several bids to consider, the first for more than 6,500 square feet of proposed concrete work at the Carroll Athletic Field. Two bids were received: Badding Construction of Carroll for $49,240 and KNB, LLC of Carroll for $60,705. Berlau says they will also review and consider proposals for a topographical survey of district land near Fairview Elementary for potential work at the district’s transportation center.
