Iowa Fuel Report: Sept. 20, 2023

Gasoline prices in the state continue to fall following the spike seen earlier this month but remain over costs from a year ago. According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa, the price of regular unleaded gasoline as of Wednesday, Sept. 20, averaged $3.82 per gallon, 10 cents below last week’s price and up 27 cents from last year. The national average on Wednesday was $3.88 per gallon, up three cents on the week. Iowa retail diesel rose six cents to $4.33 per gallon, compared to $4.79 a year ago. Iowa diesel prices remain 26 cents below the national average of $4.59 per gallon. Wholesale ethanol held steady at $2.16. Propane prices dropped 27 cents to a statewide average of $1.50 per gallon, home heating oil rose 37 cents to $3.86 per gallon, and natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site dropped one cent to $2.75 per MMBtu.
