Greene County will hold a grand opening for their brand new, million dollar animal shelter this Sunday September 24th at 2pm. You can meet and greet the dogs and cats currently being housed and maybe see one you want to adopt. The shelter is the dream of Don Orris of Jefferson. He is the grant writer and chief fundraiser for the venture and has been at it for over a decade. Chad Stevens, the Building Officer for the City of Jefferson said Don is the pivotal mover and shaker on this project.

This year you can get your dog in free, but Stevens says that could change.

The shelter is located at 1700 Doreen Wilbur Drive just north of the cemetery. Light refreshments will be served.
