Candidate Slate Is Set For Nov. 7 Carroll City/School Elections

The filing deadline for candidates running for positions on the Carroll City Council or Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education has passed, and the slate of contenders for election is now set. Beginning with the City of Carroll, Jerry Fleshner, a former city councilman, is the sole candidate for mayor, currently held by Mark Beardmore. Incumbent LaVern Dirkx will be seeking re-election for his at-large seat uncontested. Jason Atherton is also running uncontested in Ward 2 to replace Misty Boes, who opted not to run for another term. Ward 4 is the only contested race for Carroll City Council. Justin McCool is challenging incumbent Carolyn Siemann for her seat. Three positions will be on the ballot come November for CCSD. Cindy Johnson, Onica Ulveling, and Karen Friedlein currently hold those seats. All three candidates have decided not to seek another term, and seven people have filed their formal intent to fill the vacancies: Casie Forke-Burke, Jim Friel, Jill Johnston, Cindy Scaturico, Jason Schagt, Stacey McCaulley, and Sara Woerdehoff. The city/school elections will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 7. Carroll County Growth Partnership (CCGP) is planning to host a forum with the candidates around mid-October, and Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more information when a date and time are announced.
