Have your stein ready, there will be free beer tapped direct from the keg at the 10th Annual Manning Octoberfest. The fun starts off Saturday September 30th on a more sober note with an 11 am meeting of the Manning Hausbarn Heritage Park Board. Freda Damman, a volunteer at the Park, said you can sit in on the meeting to learn all they accomplished in the past year.
The cost is 12 dollars for a German style lunch. At precisely noon, dancers in German attire perform two waltz’ and two polkas and officially open the festivities with a formal tapping of the wooden keg right on the dance floor.
While the beer lasts, the world famous order of Gemutlichkeit goes into effect so the beer is on the house. And you don’t need to bring a stein form home, cups are provided.
While revelers quaff their beer, they can dance to Leo Lonnie and his German band until 5p.m. Freda Damman says this year they have added something new.
You can add back the calories you spent on the dancefloor at a dinner in the conference center. That facility seats 400 so there’s plenty of room.
