A Carroll woman accused of intentionally striking a man with her vehicle has been sentenced to two years of probation after pleading guilty to an assault charge in Carroll County District Court. Thirty-three-year-old Stephanie Jean Winter was arrested on June 18 for assault with intent to inflict serious injury, an aggravated misdemeanor. According to the Carroll Police Department, Winter used a 2013 Ford Focus to strike Robert Dean Wiechman in the 700 block of Granada Road, resulting in multiple lacerations and bruises on the victim. Winter reached a plea agreement with prosecutors, and her sentence was handed down on Friday. A two-year prison sentence was suspended, and the probation order was issued in its stead. Nearly $1,000 in fines and surcharges were also suspended by the court. After sentencing, a reckless driving charge and an unrelated fifth-degree theft charge were dismissed.
