District 11 Rep. Brian Best Announces Plans To Retire Following Current Term

District 11 Iowa House Representative Brian Best (R-Glidden) announced today (Wednesday) that he will not seek re-election in 2024. Best first took office in 2015 for Iowa House District 12 and served for four consecutive terms. He was elected to his fifth term in 2022 in District 11 following the state redistricting process. Best says, “It has been an honor to serve the people of District 11 and the state of Iowa. I am grateful for the opportunity to have made a difference in the lives of others, and I am proud of the work we have accomplished together in the Statehouse.” During his tenure, Best served on the Commerce, Health and Human Services, Labor and Workforce, and Ways and Means Committees. Best has also chaired the House Transportation Committee since 2021. Iowa House Speaker Pat Grassley says, “Brian Best has been a valuable asset to the Iowa House of Representatives. He is a dedicated public servant who has always put the needs of his constituents first. I will miss working with him, but I wish him all the best in his retirement from the Iowa Legislature.” Best will finish out his current term, which ends Jan. 1, 2025. District 11 encompasses all of Carroll and Audubon Counties and portions of Shelby and Pottawattamie Counties.
