Concerns over rising oil prices last week did not translate to higher fuel prices this week, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, Oct. 4, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline across the state fell 15 cents to $3.52, 13 cents higher than a year ago. The national average on Wednesday was down four cents to $3.79 per gallon. Retail diesel prices in Iowa dropped by one cent to $4.30 per gallon, compared to $4.65 this time last year. The national average on Wednesday stood at $4.56 per gallon. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged from $2.16. Propane prices climbed three cents to $1.53 per gallon, home heating oil prices were up two cents to $3.88 per gallon, and natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site were up nine cents to $3.02 per MMBtu.
