Public Hearing For Ziegler Annexation And Adams Street Project’s Second Change Order On Monday’s Agenda For Carroll City Council

During Monday’s meeting, the Carroll City Council will host a public hearing to annex a property on the community’s western edge for a new economic development project. City Manager Aaron Kooiker says Ziegler Caterpillar has identified Carroll as a site for future expansion and requested the city bring the property into city limits.

Following the public hearing, the council will consider formally annexing the 30-acre property. It is likely construction will begin soon at the site. Kooiker says the council will review and award bids for the golf course booster pump station project. The estimated construction cost was $525,000, according to JEO Consulting. The bids received all exceeded that estimated with Synergy Contracting of Des Moines with a low bid of $568,000.

Two of the remaining three items concern the Adams Street reconstruction project. Kooiker says one of them is for Change Order #2, totaling just under $20,000.

Also included in Change Order #2 are added fire hydrant installation, service line adjustments, and storm sewer changes. Including Change Order #2, the contract price for the project stands at $3,564,921, compared to the original bid of $3.550,680. Officials must also consider a resolution to redirect funds from the Streetscape Phase 11 project, which was nixed, to the Adams Street construction project. The council will close the meeting with a closed session for a scheduled review of Kooiker, who is now six months into his tenure as Carroll City Manager. Monday’s meeting is open to the public and will be live-streamed via the city’s YouTube page. The agenda and links to the video are included below.
