Carroll City Council Approves Annexation For Ziegler Caterpillar Expansion

The Carroll City Council approved a resolution during last night’s (Monday) meeting to proceed with a voluntary annexation to facilitate the expansion of Ziegler Caterpillar to Carroll County. According to City Manager Aaron Kooiker, representatives from the equipment dealer approached the city earlier this year requesting the approximately 30-acre lot east of Haley Equipment be annexed.

Kooiker adds that the city is working to finalize a developer agreement with Ziegler to bring water and sewer to the site.

City officials received no comments opposing the annexation during Monday’s public hearing. However, the council did have several questions for the project’s designer, Wayne Hilbert of CNH Architects, starting with the proposed timelines.

Hilbert says if everything goes smoothly, the new building could be operational as soon as December 2024. He says the approximately 68,000-square-foot facility is a significant investment in Carroll by Ziegler.

He adds that the new Ziegler Caterpillar site will create as many as 60 jobs when it is fully operational. The council voted unanimously to approve the annexation. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more information as details of the development agreement are completed.
