Gov. Kim Reynolds announced yesterday (Tuesday) the appointment of an assistant Boone County attorney as a district associate judge in Iowa Judicial Election District 2B. Hunter Thorpe of Ankeny earned his undergraduate degree in Religion from Central College in Pella in 2016 and his law degree from the Drake University Law School in 2019. Thorpe’s appointment fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Steven Van Marel. Judicial Election 2B covers 13 west-central and central Iowa counties, including Calhoun, Carroll, Greene, and Sac Counties.
