Fuel prices in Iowa continued to decline over the past week despite the rising risk of conflicts in the Middle East. According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa, the price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline as of Wednesday, Oct. 11, averaged $3.37, 15 cents below last week’s price and 34 cents down from a year ago. The national average dipped 13 cents to $3.66 per gallon. Retail diesel in Iowa slid four cents to $4.26 per gallon, compared to $5.04 per gallon this time last year. The national average for diesel on Wednesday is $4.50 per gallon. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged from $2.16. In heating fuels, propane prices dropped one cent to $1.52 per gallon, home heating oil fell 24 cents to $3.64 per gallon, and natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site rose 24 cents to $3.26 per MMBtu.
