Audrey Weitl of Carroll

Audrey Weitl, age 96, of Carroll, died Friday, October 13, 2023, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Holy Spirit Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll. The celebrant will be Fr. Patrick Behm. Con-Celebrant will be Fr. Merlin Schrad. Mass Servers will be Kyra Wolterman, Grace Wolterman, and Kaleb Nelson. Lectors and Gift Bearers will be Audrey’s granddaughters: Trisha Wolterman, Wendy Nelson, Crystal Weitl, Tasha Haverkamp, Kenzie Podey, Amber Schon, and Zoey MacDonald. Casket Bearers will be Audrey’s grandsons: Brad and Brett Weitl, Chris Hulsing, Kolby and Collin Vetter, Nathan, Austin, and Cody Weitl, Keagan and Logan Scott, Mason and Kadin MacDonald. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Templeton. The Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas and St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary will form an honor guard for the funeral mass.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kuemper Catholic Schools Foundation or New Hope Village.

Audrey, the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Balk) Danzer was born on July 12, 1927 at Willey, Iowa. She attended St. Mary’s Grade School and later graduated from St. Angela’s Academy with the class of 1945. From 1945-1951 she worked as a legal secretary for Meyers and Tan Creti Law Firm.

On June 14, 1951, Audrey was united in marriage to Floyd J. Weitl. They made their home on a farm northeast of Templeton, where they lived until their retirement to Carroll in 1988. Audrey was a very active volunteer. She volunteered with the following: Holy Spirit Parish, Catholic Daughters, St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary, Carroll American Legion Auxiliary, New Hope Village Bargain Shop, Carroll Chamber of Commerce, and R.S.V.P. Audrey made many connections through her volunteering and will be remembered for always sharing “You are so special”.

Survivors include her children: Marc (Denise) Weitl of Templeton, Dan (Peg) Weitl of Carroll, Terri (Denny) Vetter of Carroll, Jerry (Kristy) of Templeton, Linda (John) Scott of Odebolt, and Mary Jo (Bill) MacDonald of Grand Rapids, MI, 22 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way; 2 great-great-grandchildren with 1 on the way; and a sister-in-law: Joan Danzer of Carroll.

Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; parents, Joe and Frances Danzer two brothers: Arnie and Ed Danzer; one sister in infancy, along with parents-in-law, George and Mary Weitl.
