Fuel prices were mixed in this week’s report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, Oct. 18, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.29 per gallon across the state, an eight-cent decrease from last week and 35 cents below prices from a year ago. The national average for gasoline on Wednesday was $3.58, also an eight-cent decrease on the week. Retail diesel prices in Iowa held steady at $4.26 per gallon, compared to $5.09 a year ago. The national average for diesel on Wednesday stood at $4.64 per gallon. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged from $2.16. In heating fuels, propane prices were up two cents to $1.54 per gallon. Home heating oil prices rose 23 cents to $3.87 per gallon, while natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site fell 16 cents to $3.10 per MMBtu.
