Some fuels held steady, while others recorded notable increases in this week’s report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, Oct. 25, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $3.50 across the state. That price is one cent higher than last week and down 24 cents compared to a year ago. The national average on Wednesday was down four cents to $3.54 per gallon. Retail diesel prices in Iowa spiked 42 cents to $4.68 per gallon. Diesel prices averaged $5.22 per gallon in Iowa this time last year. Local diesel now outpaces the national average of $4.52 per gallon. Wholesale ethanol held steady at $2.16 per gallon. In heating fuels, propane prices were up one cent to $1.55 per gallon, home heating oil jumped 50 cents to $4.37 per gallon, and natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site soared 28 cents higher to $3.38 per MMBtu.
