Julie Kay Free, age 55, of rural Glidden, IA, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at the Glidden United Methodist Church with Rev. Ben Carter Allen officiating.  Music for the service will be by Mary Ross.  Casket bearers will be Tom Weber, Jack Scanlan, Greg Platt, Tony Ball, Chris Soyer, and Matt Conner.  Honorary casket bearers will be Ryan Davis, Chris Davis, Payton Davis, Parker Davis, Jennifer Davis and Jerry Ball.  Burial will be in the Lanesboro Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden from 5 – 7 P.M. on Monday.  The casket will be moved to the Glidden United Methodist Church at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the service.

Julie was born on January 5, 1968 in Jefferson, IA, and she was the daughter of Ronald and Carol (Willits) Davis.  She grew up in Coon Rapids where she graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1986.  Julie attended DMACC in Ankeny where she earned a degree in Business Administration.  She worked for Farm Bureau in Des Moines and then American Home Shield in Carroll from 1989 – 1994.  Julie was married to Art Free on August 11, 1990 at the United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids.  Julie loved showing her horses Beamer and Otto, and she also enjoyed shopping and attending her children’s events.  Julie was a fan of Luke Bryan and Hallmark movies.

Julie is survived by her husband Art of rural Glidden; two sons: Justin Free  of Lake City and Jared Free (Sydney Kastle) of Glidden; her mother-in-law Florence Free of rural Glidden; two brothers: Glenn Davis (Rachel) of Crestview, FL, and John Davis (Lori) of Ankeny; a sister Kimberly Davis of The Villages, FL; two sisters-in-law: Theresa Snyder (Rick) of Lake City and Karen Sturm (Jerry) of Breda; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents Dr. Ronald and Carol Davis; her father-in-law Ray Free; a sister Linda Davis.
