A recent study by the Iowa Hospital Association revealed that Manning Regional Healthcare Center (MRHC) had a significant economic impact on Carroll County last year, generating over 250 jobs that contributed approximately $290,577 to the local economy. The study assessed the economic impact of MRHC in terms of employment, income, taxable retail sales, and sales tax collections. MRHC CEO Linn Block says, “We are grateful to be able to make such an impact on our local communities. It takes all aspects of a community working together to be vibrant and strong.” As a non-profit, critical access hospital, MRHC’s mission is to serve the local community and provide a public benefit. The hospital has focused on expanding mental health services, offering counseling and telehealth services. Additionally, MRHC has enhanced other offerings, including orthopedic services and more same-day appointments. MRHC’s community involvement extends beyond healthcare, offering educational events, trainings, clinics, and charity care. Over the past three years, the hospital has provided over $100,000 in community health improvement services. In 2022, MRHC provided nearly $100,000 in charity care, serving over 54 individuals in need, and contributed to community health through educational events, advertising, and the MRHC website. MRHC is also a proud supporter of many local charities, organizations, and fundraisers, such as the IKM-Manning Foundation, West Central Iowa Healthcare Foundation, American Cancer Society, and many others. According to the study, Iowa hospitals collectively employed 145,252 individuals in 2022, providing over $9.3 billion in wages and contributing over $21.5 billion to the state’s gross domestic product.
