A man carrying a shotgun in Glidden yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon created public outcry following an unusual series of events. According to Carroll County Sheriff Ken Pingrey, law enforcement was dispatched in response to a flurry of calls reporting a man with a large backpack carrying a long gun. The individual, who was identified as 38-year-old Jerry Lee Webb Jr., has listed residence in Kansas City, Mo. Webb was taken into custody but not on any firearm-related charge. Instead, he was arrested for violating an existing no-contact order, a simple misdemeanor, and booked into the Carroll County jail. He was released this (Thursday) morning after the charge was dismissed due to a filing technicality. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is expected to release a statement on the issue in the coming days.
