Carroll County Voter Turnout Tops 30% In Off-Year Election

According to statistics from the Carroll County Auditor’s Office, Carroll County voters showed up in large numbers for an off-year election. Of the 14,754 registered voters, 4,481 cast ballots in the city and school elections throughout the county, a voter turnout of 30.37 percent. While that rate might seem low, it exceeded the turnout from the 2021 election, which saw 29.58 percent, and the 2019 election, which had 21.32 percent. Off-year elections simply do not compare to general elections. In 2022, which featured the Iowa gubernatorial race, Carroll County recorded a turnout of 56.66 percent. The 2020 election drew an even larger portion of registered voters due to the presidential race between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, with 77.02 percent turnout. Results from Tuesday’s city/school elections can be below.
