Fuel prices continued to trend downward in this week’s market summary from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, Nov. 8, the price of regular unleaded gasoline in the state averaged $3.11 per gallon, eight cents lower than last week and 43 cents below prices from a year ago. The national average for gasoline slid five cents to $3.41 per gallon. Retail diesel in Iowa dropped 14 cents this week to $4.37 per gallon, compared to $5.13 per gallon this time last year. Local prices are two cents lower than the $4.39 national average. Wholesale ethanol held steady at $2.16. In heating fuels, propane prices were unchanged from $1.54 per gallon, home heating oil prices dipped 33 cents to $3.58 per gallon, and natural gas prices fell 46 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site to $3.09 per MMBtu.
