In just over two weeks, staff from the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) Downtown Resource Center is visiting Carroll to review the community’s central business district and create a vitality improvement plan. This project is a joint effort between the Carroll Chamber of Commerce, Carroll County Growth Partnership, and the City of Carroll. Chamber and CCGP Executive Director Kimberly Tiefenthaler explains what the IEDA staff has planned for their three-day visit between Nov. 28 and Nov. 30.
Public input is critical to the IEDA’s planning and review process. Tiefenthaler notes it can be challenging to create a plan for a community when the residents don’t share their thoughts and opinions. Tiefenthaler says that is why they’ve released an easy-to-complete survey for residents and visitors to Carroll.
The survey is open through Nov. 20 and can be completed by following the link included with this story on our website. Another way to be involved is to participate in one of many focus groups that will be held during the three-day study.
Carroll City Manager Aaron Kooiker says they are optimistic this study will lead to future funding opportunities for the community.
Downtown Resource Center staff will host a presentation at 1 p.m. at a to-be-determined site to share their findings with the public.
