  Lloyd Irwin Kline, age 93, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll.

     Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church in Carroll with Rev. Terry Plocher officiating.  Organist for the service will be Nancy Davis.  Casket bearers will be Dr. Michael Davis, Doug Sweeney, Kevin Patrick, Mark Hoffman, Josh Hoffman, Steve Agnew.  Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Carroll American Legion.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 24, 2023 from 5 – 7 P.M. at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll.  The casket will be moved to the First United Methodist Church at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the service.

Lloyd was born on a farm, on the west edge of Glidden, on October 13, 1930.  He was the son of  Fred and Lottie (Lauck) Kline.  He grew up on the farm and graduated from Glidden High School in the class of 1948.  He was class president.  Lloyd attended Iowa State University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Journalism.  He was also in ROTC and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict stationed in Germany as a Forward Observer.  Upon his honorable discharge he returned home and worked in advertising for over 64 years in Carroll, Omaha, Cedar Rapids, and New York City.  Lloyd was also involved in farm management and farm ownership most of his life.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, art groups, Kiwanis, Masonic Lodge, and Eastern Star.  Lloyd enjoyed traveling, art, writing books, and composing songs and hymns.

Lloyd is survived by his wife Jewel of Carroll; his son James Kline (Kimberly) of Jefferson City, MO; three grandchildren: Dimitri Kline (Elaine), Brandon Baumhoer (Lori), and Casey Baumhoer; six great-grandchildren: Stanley, Emmersyn, Clay, Isabelle, Jack, and Lee; one niece; and two nephews.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Lottie Kline; a brother Gerald Kline (Polly), and a grandson Dexter James Kline.
