Iowa Fuel Report: Nov. 21, 2023

Fuel prices in Iowa are more than 40 cents lower than a year ago as thousands of Iowans prepare to travel in the days ahead to visit family and friends over the Thanksgiving holiday. According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline as of Tuesday, Nov. 21, was $2.97, six cents lower than last week and 43 cents below prices from a year ago. The national average was down five cents on the week to $3.30. Retail diesel prices in Iowa were down seven cents to $4.17 per gallon, compared to $5.00 a year ago. Local prices remain 11 cents below the $4.28 national average. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged from $2.16. In heating fuels, propane prices held steady at $1.54 per gallon, home heating oil prices fell two cents to $3.47 per gallon, and natural gas prices dipped 30 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site to $2.89 per MMBtu.
