Victor Joseph Warnke, age 71, of Carroll, IA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. Anna Small officiating. Music for the service will by Marlys Conner. Casket bearers will be Scott Forbes, Greg Forbes, Steven Forbes, Jacob Warnke, Kurt Warnke, and Dave Beyer. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home from 5 – 7 P.M. on Friday. Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 A.M. – 10:15 A.M. on Saturday prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Victor’s name for a later designation and may be left with the funeral home.

Victor was born June 11, 1952 in Carroll, IA, and he was the son of Vernon and Burnita (Daniel) Warnke. He attended Carroll High School and then went to trade school in Omaha for Carpentry. Victor owned and operated Warnke Construction for 45 years with his brother Randy doing new construction and remodeling. Victor loved working on churches and making chapel furniture. On April 22, 1988, he was married to Helen at the Little Brown Church. Victor enjoyed traveling and visited many of the U.S. states, the Bahamas, and Costa Rica – spending over 20 winters in South Padre where he became an avid fisherman sharing his catch with his neighbors in Long Island Village. After his retirement, he turned his garage into a woodworking shop, doing woodworking projects in many homes in Carroll. Victor also crafted all the furnishings at St. Anthony Nursing Home Chapel and Garden View Chapel.
Victor is survived by his wife Helen of Carroll; his son Benton Warnke (Kim) of Carroll; his step-sons: Scott Forbes (Jane), Greg Forbes, and Steve Forbes (Theresa); his grandchildren: Mercedes and Jacob Warnke, and Tia Horvatich; his step-grandchildren: Parker, Mia, Paul (Andrea), and Rachel Forbes; step-great-grandchildren: Olivia, Luca, Noah, and Jonah Forbes; four sisters: Cindy Mueggenberg of Carroll, Melody Heim (Richard) of Auburn, Cathy Peterson (John) of Carroll, and Michelle Stork of Breda; nine brothers: Dennis Warnke (Donna) of Carroll, Dallas Warnke (Brenda) of Carroll, Randy Warnke (Vicky) of Carroll, Gary Warnke of Scranton, and Kevin, Mike, Scott, and Kelly; a sister-in-law Darlene Warnke of Carroll; a brother-in-law Ronald Schiltz of Carroll; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Victor was preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Burnita Warnke; his daughter Shelli Cole; a brother Bruce Warnke and a sister Pamela Schiltz.
