Des Moines Area Community College (DMAC) Career Advantage Site Coordinator Jen Wollesen was recently recognized by Community Colleges for Iowa for establishing the Templeton Regional Center. Wollesen completed a successful application for a Local College Access Network Grant (LCAN) to expand opportunities for students in the 10 regional schools through increased completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). She also wrote and received the $1 million Career Academy Incentive (CAIF) grant to build the center in Templeton to provide career and technical education (CTE) programs to students from the surrounding high schools. As a result of Wollesen’s work, the DMACC Carroll Campus recorded a nearly 41-percent increase in dual credit hour enrollment from last year and nearly doubled enrollment at the Templeton site. Wollesen was recognized with the Outstanding Staff Award during the Community Colleges for Iowa Convention and Tradeshow in Des Moines on Nov. 29.
