Ida County Woman Charged For May Death Of Her Three-Year-Old Son

An investigation into the death of a three-year-old Ida County child in May has led to criminal charges for the child’s mother. According to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), 23-year-old Billie Rose Mosier of Ida Grove faces one count of child endangerment resulting in death, a class B felony, in connection to the May 5 death of three-year-old Jordan Reed. On May 4, Ida County Emergency Medical Services responded to the 500 block of Maple Street in Battle Creek for a report of an unresponsive child. Upon arrival, EMTs found the child was not breathing and rushed the boy to Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove and then to Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha, Neb. Jordan Reed died the following day. The investigation, which was led by the Iowa DCI with assistance from the Ida County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner, found Mosier’s actions directly contributed to the boy’s death. She was released after posting a surety bond and is scheduled to make her initial appearance on Dec. 7 at the Ida County Courthouse. A class B felony in Iowa carries a maximum penalty of up to 25 years in prison.
