Iowa Fuel Report: Dec. 6, 2023

Fuel prices throughout the state continued to slide in this week’s report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, Dec. 6, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was down four cents to $2.87 per gallon, compared to $3.09 per gallon a year ago. The national average for gasoline on Wednesday stood at $3.22, a three-cent decrease from the end of November. Retail diesel prices in Iowa were down 10 cents to $3.97 per gallon, which is 75 cents lower than a year ago. The national average for diesel on Wednesday was $4.17 per gallon. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged from $2.16. In heating fuels, propane prices ticked up one cent to $1.56 per gallon, home heating oil prices slid 19 cents to $3.32 per gallon, and natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site fell 15 cents to $2.67 per MMBtu.
