Glenn “DeLoss” Davis of Glidden

Glenn DeLoss Davis, age 76, of rural Glidden, IA, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church in Lanesboro with Rev. Ben Carter Allen officiating.  Music for the service will be by Mary Ross.  Casket bearers will be Shania Williams, Dillon Davis, Bob Baker, Art Free, Jim Conley, and Rob Conley.  Honorary casket bearers will be DeLoss’ grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Burial will be in the Lanesboro Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden from 5 – 7 P.M. on Wednesday.  The casket will be moved to the church at 9:30 A.M. on Thursday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the service.

DeLoss, as he was known to most, was born on December 3, 1947 in Lake City, IA, and he was the son of Ira Wayne and Clara (Chase) Davis.  He grew up on his family’s farm north of Glidden and graduated from Glidden High School in 1966.  Following high school, he worked for the railroad and attended Iowa State University.  DeLoss returned to Carroll following college and worked for Clark Ready Mix and later Moorhouse Ready Mix and American Concrete.  He also worked several construction jobs and farmed with his family.  He was married to Doris Presley on January 24, 1971 at the Presbyterian Church in Auburn.  DeLoss was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lanesboro.  He enjoyed hunting with his coon dogs, fishing, farming, and spending time with his family.  He was a Golden Gloves boxing champion in his younger years and he has served as president of the Iowa State Coon Hunter’s Association.

DeLoss is survived by his wife Doris of 53 years; two sons: Mark Davis (Melissa) of rural Glidden and Matthew Davis (Sandy) of Maple River; seven grandchildren: Bobbie Jo White (Chris), Shania Williams, Dillon Davis, Mariah Wilson, Hannah Davis, Emmy Davis, and Tate Davis; five great-grandchildren: Jocelyn, Jameson, Pazley, Little Mark, and Charlee; a sister Bonnie Davis of Des Moines; a brother Charlie Davis of Casey; two brothers-in-law: Warren Dean Presley of Auburn and Donovan Presley (Carol) of Yetter; and several nieces and nephews.

DeLoss was preceded in death by his parents Ira and Clara Davis; his father and mother-in-law Forrest and Alice Presley; a sister Nancy Davis; a brother Scott Davis; and a son Michael Davis in 2015.
